Thanks ever so Much!

Happy Wednesday!

Well, we survived Hurricane Sandy!  Thank you all who prayed & sent safe thoughts our way!!

It's still raining! The winds were horrible, making the house creak and moan, I hate that!  The strong winds knocked down power lines too which caused our power outage for most of the night & next morning!

Nothing to do but craft...by the window!

 Paper Smooches Stamps,
Frecked Fawn washi tape.

Super easy!
This one is going to a team of first responders!!

Have a super duper day!
Blessings!

Giving Thanks Always - Altered

Happy Friday!

I have an altered notebook to share today!

I altered a steno pad this time instead of a reg. notebook.  I found these plain cover ones at Walmart! Great for crafting!

Joy's Life clear sentiment  (It's All Fall Puns)
Colorbok papers, hand-dyed ribbon, MME lace,
Spellbinders, CM punch, Mamelok Press die cut
acrylic paint, Zva Creative pearls & gems

Melissa has gathered together a lovely group of crafters to showcase some fabulous ideas for altered notebooks...enjoy!

If you're hopping with us today, you should have arrived here from Dena's lovely blog!  If you need to start at the beginning for all the hop details & PRIZE info, hop back to our hostess-with-the-mostest, Melissa's blog!

My notebook is based on Psalms 103...

Praise the Lord, O my soul;
all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

I created it to "forget not all his benefits"; to record the miracles & blessings I see everyday, in my life & others I'm praying for!  And in doing so, cultivate a more grateful heart!
Thank you so much for stopping by today!  Your next hop stop is the super creative Lucy!

Enjoy your weekend!

DIY Manilla Folder notebook/album - Recycle

Happy Thursday!

Another DIY manilla folder notebook/album!

I had so much fun altering my first manilla folder, that I just had to create another one...but this one is just for me!  I used all my favorites...Tim Holtz, Teresa Collins, Hero Arts, sunflowers, rhinestones all on a totally 'grunged out' manilla folder!

My first album (Here) was created to hold some photos & drawings, this one is for re-decorating notes for our master bedroom!

This is super simple & a great way to recycle...

materials needed -

  1. used manilla folder
  2. hole punch
  3. scratch paper
  4. brads
  5. scoring tool (optional but helpful)

*Holding your file folder horizontally (tab at top, crease at bottom), cut it in half vertically.  I used the tabbed side for my album.

*Simply make two mountain folds at the crease. Most folders have some score lines, you can start with those.
*Next, I cut some scratch paper down to size, stuck it between the mountain folds, punched holes & inserted brads! ta-da!!
I used brads so I could easily add more notebook pages if needed!

*Last step, embellish however you wish!

I used alcohol inks on the folder & the metal, distress inks with & without water...

No over-thinking here, I just wanted something to jot down notes & this one makes me smile!

Enjoy your day!
Blessings!

Relax & Unwind, a mummy candle!

Happy Friday!  Time to Relax & Unwind!

I've made a fun little hostess gift!

I've been seeing these cute 'mummy' wrapped jar candles all over blogland & decided to give it a try!
I used tulle to wrap my jar, though I've seen others wrapped with gauze, linen & tissue paper.  You can use Mod Podge to adhere papers or spray glue to help grab your fabric while wrapping!
